It is a series of lectures given by Buddhism's founder, Nichiren Daishonin, during his many visits to England. This series contains the first of two lectures, Danballing Lion. It covers the circumstances that led to his birth and presents them in a very traditional Japanese style, with the third lecture coming a few years later. The second lecture, Dai-Bo Mei, deals with life after death and why he was baptized. The third and last lecture in the series, Ton-Ihui or 'The Stream,' is devoted to describing the perfection of all phenomena that are under Buddha Nature. The other lectures in the sam e series, which comprise Ton-Ihui, include the famous Yang-Man chu-tai, 'The Way to Cultivate the Buddha's Body,' and the famous Tien-Hsuan is, 'The Five Centuries of Sun and Moon,' that provides a detailed account of the central theme of The Diamond Sutra. In all, the series covers more than five hundred and fifty lectures. This whole series was made possible by the teachings of Daisaku Ikeda, the founder of Nichiren Shoshu, Nichiren Buddhism. Ikeda, the Chairman of the National Liberal Education Policy Research Center (later renamed Nichiren Shoshu), was initially responsible for distributing this valuable treasure to the world through distribution through his organization. As far as we know, he did this out of his own heart and when he felt that the teachings would be helpful to others as well. The next three lectures in the Danballing Lion series were taken from the Spiritual Life of Nichiren Daishonin, the autobiography that was written by his son, Shigenori. They are Dai-Bo Mune nori, the description of the struggle between China and Japan during the Edo period; Ton-Ihui, the summing up of his spiritual teachings; and Nikko, a summary of the Buddhist elements that constitute his doctrines. The fifth lecture in the Danballing Lion series, Dai-Goho Denroku, comes from the Introduction to the Book of the Law, a compilation of the teachings that are contained in the Lotus Sutra. Ikeda then continued the series with the Thought on the Bridge (Nengo) and Nichikanbo, 'The Diamond Mirror of Virtue.'Each lecture is extremely informative, and a must-read for everyone interested in Buddhism, in particular The Lotus Sutra. The Sixth Lecture in the series, Nam-Myoho-Renge-Kyo, 'Concerning the Many Incomings of the True Dharma World,' includes a summary of the enlightenment of each member of the Buddhist Faith. There is much information available about Paper Topics on the Enlightenment Period series on the Internet.
